Kitzbühel Tourismus and its partners are thrilling winter enthusiasts with electronic beats to close out the season.
The second edition of the Kitzbühel Boutique Festival, Sound | Escape, was a resounding success. Over three days, from Friday to Sunday, from midday until the early hours of the morning, visitors enjoyed more than 20 locations and over 40 artists. With free admission and events spanning from the mountains to the valley, Kitzbühel Tourismus is extremely satisfied with how it turned out.
Following its successful debut in 2024, Sound | Escape aims to revitalize the traditionally slow last weekend of March in collaboration with tourism partners. Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, CEO of Kitzbühel Tourismus sees great potential in this concept: „What a weekend! Even at only its second edition, Sound | Escape has shown us that something special is happening. More visitors, more engaged businesses, better atmosphere – and above all else: true community spirit. The positive feedback we’ve received from locals, guests, artists and partners shows us that there is untapped potential during off-peak seasons for many good ideas and initiatives.“ The next installment of the Kitzbühel Boutique Festival is planned for March 27-29th in 2026.
A Spectacular Continuation
Known for regularly hosting top-tier DJs specializing in electronic music events throughout Kitzbühel’s mountainside venues as well as downtown locations; Sound | Escape brings together individual initiatives into one festival concept. At its core lies a mainstage located within the historic city center’s courtyard adjacent to Bezirkshauptmannschaft (District Commission). Special emphasis is placed on free admission across all participating venues.
Over three days filled with high-caliber performances by local DJ legends alongside international superstars such as Sven Väth headlining along with Kilimanjaro Matthias Tanzmann and Anna Tur; visitors spanning various age groups – considering electronic music originated back in the ’90s – were captivated by this new format despite occasional rain down below or snow up on mountain peaks.
Tangible Impact on Local Businesses
The positive feedback received last year paid off significantly resulting in increased bookings and occupancy rates at participating establishments both up on mountain slopes or down below within town limits during this year’s eventful weekend. Notably attracting numerous attendees was world-renowned headliner Sven Väth including a group of over one hundred British skiers making their way specifically for this occasion along with several first-time visitors.
Marvin Aloys played an instrumental role coordinating all performing artists stating: „We aimed to create an alpine space dedicated to electronic music culture fostering genuine connections – together we brought it into existence! Thank you Kitzbühel Tourismus! Thank you Kitzbühel! And thank you everyone who made it possible while dancing alongside us – This experience leaves us craving even more.“
