ADKA Annual Congress 2025 in Berlin: New Leadership and Future Goals
The Bundesverband Deutscher Krankenhausapotheker (ADKA) e.V. hosted the 50th ADKA Annual Congress in Berlin from May 8th to 10th, 2025, marking a significant milestone for hospital pharmacy in Germany. The congress also included a membership meeting on May 9th, 2025, where a new executive committee was elected.
Dr. Jochen Schnurrer (University Medicine Essen) assumed the role of President, succeeding Kim Green (Klinikum Oldenburg) as the 2nd Vice President. Dr. Dagmar Horn (University Hospital Münster) was elected as the new 1st Vice President with an overwhelming majority. Max Kretzschmar (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf) became the new Treasurer, and Elke Dechandt (St. Joseph Hospital Berlin) the new Secretary, bringing fresh perspective to the leadership team.
In his interview, Dr. Jochen Schnurrer emphasized the challenges facing hospital pharmacy amid increasing professional and geopolitical pressures. The focus remains on enhancing patient care and medication therapy safety within hospitals to ensure a sustainable future for the field.
A significant step was taken with the adoption of the revised ADKA constitution, paving the way for the introduction of a Junior President role to actively involve young hospital pharmacists in the association’s work. This move underscores the commitment to nurturing future talent within the profession.
With a rejuvenated leadership, fresh perspectives, and a clear focus on fostering young talent, ADKA looks ahead optimistically to continue shaping and advancing hospital pharmacy in Germany.
