Water – Shaping the Future: A Recap of the Wilo Industry Conference in Venice
In Venice, leading representatives from the fields of science, politics, and business gathered for the annual Wilo Industry Conference under the theme „Water – Shaping the Future.“ Hosted by the multinational water technology company, the experts discussed the most pressing challenges related to the scarcity of water resources and possible solutions. Key topics of discussion included the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing the water crisis and the European Blue Deal. The conference was organized in collaboration with the European Water Association (EWA).
Oliver Hermes, President & Global CEO of the Wilo Group, emphasized the urgency of addressing water scarcity in Europe, stating that the EU needs to prioritize water infrastructure as much as defense and energy infrastructure. Peter Glauner, Regional CEO of Wilo Europe, added that political ambitions must be supported by technological innovations in the European water industry to be effective.

The conference featured keynote speeches from Wilo management, Pietro Francesco De Lotto from the European Economic and Social Committee, and a panel discussion with experts from the water industry, including representatives from Wilo, Siemens, and Emerald Technology Ventures. The discussions highlighted the significant opportunities presented by the AI revolution in addressing water scarcity challenges.
At the conference, the top management of the Wilo Group also convened for the International Meeting of General Managers in Venice. The meeting focused on Artificial Intelligence, with WATER AI symbolizing Wilo’s commitment to pioneering digital and AI solutions in the industry. Oliver Hermes emphasized the importance of integrating AI into products, systems, and daily operations while keeping the human element central.
